CLICK: PATH TO PROTECTION – ONLINE CPP TRAINING COURSES FOR 2021
February 2, 2021 - April 28, 2021
Tayside Regional Improvement Collaborative Priority Group 5: Safeguarding and Child Protection are working in partnership with the Marie Collins Foundation to deliver their CLICK Path to Protection training for professionals working with children and young people across Tayside, to help support children, young people and families following discovery or disclosure of online sexual abuse.
The Marie Collins Foundation (MCF) was created to offer a cohesive approach to addressing the recovery needs of children, and their families, who suffer harm online. The MCF vision is to ensure that all children who suffer abuse via the internet and mobile technology are able to recover and live safe and fulfilling lives.
The Path to Protection is about how professionals need to intervene to support the child and their family from the point of discovery of the abuse to recovery. It covers considerations at each stage of the journey and different practitioners will have a role at different points on this path. It is a highly evaluated, evidence-based, multi-faceted training and support programme which aims to ensure that every professional working with children that are either at risk of or the victims of online abuse, understands not only what his/her role entails, but also those of their colleagues from organisations jointly charged with protecting children.
Structure of the Click: Path to Protection training model is explained more fully in the flyer. Each course will be delivered online by Marie Collins Foundation staff and is designed to give the target audience the information they need to fulfil their role. It is intended that practitioners attend the course which is most suitable for the role they are undertaking in working with children. Please ensure you select the most appropriate training for your role. If this is unclear, please contact Catriona Scobbie (details below) for assistance.
On completion of the training, trainees are invited to complete an online evaluation after which they will be invited to register to have access to the CLICK: Path to Protection (CPP) secure platform on the MCF website. From this site they will be able to download their certificate and have access to up to date guidance on how to intervene at each stage on the path to protection. This includes the ability to download templates and other aids.
In Tayside, the programme will run as detailed below and in the flyer. A number of date alternatives are provided, where possible, to assist planning. Practitioners are only required to attend one session within the relevant category:
